The ID family of electric vehicles grew by one on Tuesday. The ID.7 electric sedan was unveiled in an orange and black camo scheme ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It will light up. The camo is designed to create light effects on parts of the vehicle. This is an interactive feature that symbolizes the next step in the development of Volkswagen's EV family. In all, some 22 sections of paint, all of which are comprised of more than 40 individual layers of paint and electronics, will light up at the driver's command. Users will be able to control the paint job through their phones with the help of the QR codes on the hood and doors. The ID.7 is based on the Aero3 concept and is expected to have an all-electric range of 700 km. The electric model range is being extended with the new ID.7 Quality and technology will be offered by the sedan. Thomas Schfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said in a statement that the ID.7 will be one of 10 new electric models. The company plans to release the ID.7 with an augmented reality head-up display, a 15-inch central screen, and digitally controlled air vents, but details are still scarce. When the ID.7 goes on sale, it will be available in the Chinese, European and North American markets.
