The flagship Intel Core i9-13980HX is the world's fastest mobile processor with a clock speed of 5.6 GHz, according to Intel.

Apple no longer uses Intel chips in its Macs, with the exception of the Mac mini and the yet-to-be- updated Mac Pro with Intel Xeon chips, but Intel is now a direct competitor, supplying processors that compete with Apple's own M-series Apple Silicon chips.

The new Core i9 chip has a boost clock speed of 5.6 GHz, which is 11 percent faster than the prior-generation Intel Core i9-12900HK chip. The Intel Core i9-13980HX has eight performancecores, 16 efficientcores, and 32 threads.

The prior-generation chip beats the M1 Ultra on multi-core Geekbench benchmarking tests, but it can't compare to the M1 Max when it comes to power efficiency. The new Intel Core i9-13980HX will likely be faster than the current Apple chips, but will not compete with the Mac lineup.

It is worth noting that the M2 is just 3.5 GHz, which is less than the speed of Intel'sTurbo boost clock. The Intel Core i9-12900HK was the same "fastest mobile processor" as the M1 Max, but it was beaten by the M1 Ultra when it was released. The M2 Pro, Max, and Ultra chips are being worked on by Apple.

The 13th- generation P-series and U-series chips with up to 14 core will be available for thinner, lighter laptops.
