When it comes to new attractions and offerings at Disney World, the last few years have been very exciting.

The launch of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel experience, as well as the opening of Toy Story Land, are from the beginning.

There will be a change in the pace of major new openings at Disney World in the years to come.

There is a "pandemic pause" in new projects and the cancellation or scale back of some already in motion. As we've grown accustomed to, there will inevitably be a few years without as many new rides, restaurants and other major additions. Due to the length of time it takes to get projects of that scale from green light to completion, there will be a slowdown.

We are about to finish the last of the projects that started before the Pandemic and were a bit late.

There are a few more pre-pandemic-era projects up Mickey's sleeves. Major Disney World offerings will debut in 2023. Smaller additions to the list of offerings will be made.

There will be 10 new attractions coming to Walt Disney World in 2023.

Tron Lightcyle Run

This is the final one. The grand opening of the Magic Kingdom's first new ride in four years will take place in the spring of23.

The fastest ride at Disney World will be the tron lightcycle run. The guests will race through the Energy Gates on their Lightcycle. The tron lightcycle run at Disneyland is said to hit speeds of 60 miles per hour.

The spring opening of Disney World seems to be on schedule after some human tests of the ride. Annual passholder previews will be held in March and a grand opening in April, according to some.

When tron opens, it will use a virtual queue and a paid individual lightning lane. It's possible that this means that when the attraction ceases to use a virtual queue and becomes accessible via an old fashioned line, this will happen.

Woody's Roundup Rodeo BBQ

Woody's Rodeo BBQ, inside Hollywood Studio's Toy Story Land, has been delayed more than once, but is now expected to open in the spring of 2023.

Adorned with the theme of Andy's toys, this sit-down restaurant will join the popular counter-service restaurant in Toy Story Land to offer family-style barbecue-inspired comfort foods.

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana

The transformation of the park is nearing completion. The Journey of Water, which is a key component of the park's overhaul, will open in late 2023.

The park's World Nature neighborhood has a themed walk through area called The Journey of Water. The trail will give guests a chance to learn about water and its history and role on this planet, but Disney says that you'll get a chance to interact with the water, which, as you may recall, has a "mind of its own."

New Epcot nighttime show and continued transformation

The World Celebration neighborhood is rumored to be finished in late 2023, and it's not just about water. The opening of Communicore Hall will become a new home for festivals and can be used as a central gathering spot.

There will be a new nighttime show at Disney's Epcot theme park. As part of Disney's 50th anniversary, this will be the new show.

Disney has not yet said what the future holds for the barges that have been a fixture in the lagoon.

Happily Ever After returns

The Magic Kingdom's Enchantment will be the last nighttime show at Disney World. The 18-month anniversary celebration will end on March 31, 2023.

The fireworks show will return with some "updates." The narrator's voice begins the show with the line "And they all lived happily ever after", so don't expect a lot of dry eyes.

Figment meet-and-greet

This may seem small, and it is, but the little purple dragon is getting responses from Disney guests. From sold-out popcorn buckets in his likeness to a ride that has devoted fans despite its somewhat aging approach to imaginative stories, Figment is popular.

At Disney's D23 conference in fall 2022, it was announced that Figment would be making his way to Epcot for character meet-and-greets for the first time in a long time.

Hatbox Ghost

The haunted mansion has a legion of loyalists. Disneyland has a popular character within the ride that Disney World had yet to get.

The Hatbox Ghost will be at Disney World's haunted mansion. We don't know if this will fill the ride's quota for 1,000 happy haunts, or if another will leave, keeping the count steady at 1000.

Disneyland and Disney World have been compared.

Walt Disney World Railroad

Let's talk about what you can do on a ride. For the first time in over a year, you can ride the steam train on the Disney World Railroad.

Four years after reopening, this attraction has a new narration as guests travel through the different lands of the Magic Kingdom.

Room renovations at multiple popular Disney World hotels

Disney World has spent a lot of time waving its magic wand at several resort hotels. All-Star Sports, the Grand Floridian, and at least some rooms at Caribbean Beach will be renovated in the coming years.

Some rooms at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa received a new look in 2022, but other parts of the hotel will be renovated this year.

The resorts that get attention are not the only ones. The pirate themed rooms at the Caribbean Beach moderate resort will be transformed into a new look with a nod to life under the sea. The Trinidad section of the large resort has five rooms with a queen bed, a pull down queen Murphy bed and a pull down single sleeper.

While All-Star Movies and All-Star Music have been renovated in the last few years, the third value resort, All-Star Sports, had been waiting. We expect the renovations to have a similar feel to the other All-Star properties, but with a sporty twist.

There is a movie resort. The Points Guy is KaTIE GENTER.

The best hotels at Disney World are listed.

Summer House on the Lake

Disney Springs is getting a new restaurant in 2023 called Summer House on the Lake so we can't leave it off this list. There are outposts in Chicago and Maryland, but it is California-inspired with salads, pizzas, and more.

This will be located on the western side of Disney Springs near the AMC movie theater and is expected to open in the late half of the 20th century.

What to expect when visiting Disney World in 2023

At this point in time, it looks like 2023 is going to look a lot like 2022. With the recent return of Bob Iger as Disney's CEO and some (wishful) reading between the lines of things he has said, there is some hope of some simplification and relaxed restrictions in Disney World.

There are still many procedures in place. You can't park until 2 p.m. and need a Park Pass for the first park you want to visit.

The FastPass replacement, called Genie+, can be purchased for as little as $19 per day at Disney World. We saw the first sell-out of genie+ at Disneyland.

Animal Kingdom is the lowest priced park at Disney World and Magic Kingdom is the highest priced park.

The Brightline train will connect the city to South Florida later in the year, and the near-Disney Evermore Resort will open in the summer of23.

While most Disney World restaurants, shows, hotels and more have reopened after the 2020 closure, some of the rules and complexity that were introduced that year still remain. If you will be going to Disney World for the first time in a few years, you should do some research.

There is a Disney World trip.

Peeking ahead to Disney World in 2024

If you decide to go to Disney World in 2023, here is a glimpse into the future.

Splash Mountain in Frontierland will close in January of 2023 to make way for The Princess and the Frog retheme. The new attraction will be called "Tiana's Bayou Adventure".

At Animal Kingdom, the Dinoland area is undergoing some changes and construction and it is possible that the area will be rethemed into a Disney movie.

Disney Treasure is currently under construction in Germany and is expected to join the Disney Cruise Line fleet in 2024. Lighthouse Point, Disney's second island in the Bahamas, should be finished this year.

Bottom line

The spring opening of tron at the Magic Kingdom will be one of the big additions coming to Disney World in the years to come. The hope is that Disney guests will learn of some major developments coming to the parks in 2023.

A potential land beyond Big Thunder Mountain at the Magic Kingdom was one of the "big ideas" Disney was thinking about. There is a potential villain-themed area that has been said out loud, but it's not likely to happen in the next two decades.

We look forward to 2023 to enjoy what's new at Disney World this year and learn more about what's to come in the future.
