Cync's Dynamic Effects line is being expanded by GE Lighting. Cync's new entertainment-themed products position it as a cheaper competitor to the other two.
New hexagon wall panels, neon-style rope lights that can be shaped how you like, and A19 and BR30 bulbs join the full-color gradient indoor and outdoor light strips that Cync launched late last year.
16 million colors, white light, and preset and custom lighting effects can be seen in all Dynamic Effects products The A19 and BR30 bulbs can show up to four different colors at the same time.
In addition to the full spectrum of color, the new products all have on- device music sync and white light. They will start at $19.99 for the A19 Aline bulb and go up to $199.99 for a 10-pack of the hexagonal panel lights. The starter pack of seven panels is around $30 cheaper than the seven-pack. The Neon Rope lights are available in 10 and 16 inch lengths.
The Cync Full Color Direct Connect Smart Bulb and Cync Indoor Smart Plug will be the first to add support for Matter, which will allow them to work with any Matter compatible smart home platform or device.
The new interoperability smart home standard won't be getting updated to previous products. The new Dynamic Effects products won't work with Matter because they'll be released over the next year.
Cync's products don't need a bridge or hub to work. The Cync app is powered by Savant, which bought GE Lighting in 2020.
The new Cync Reveal HD Plus Full Color Wafer Downlights have a "whiter white" option and will be available in the third quarter of next year. The Cync ceiling light line is easy to install, but the reveal line is designed for kitchens where you want the best clarity light.
The Cync app is getting a new integration that will allow you to tie lighting automations to locking and unlocked doors.
Cync has an almost complete smart home solution with this smart lock integration. At the Consumer Electronics Show last year, Cync introduced 11 new smart bulbs, a new outdoor camera, and a smart thermostat, all of which are part of a portfolio that already includes smart light switches, dimmers, indoor and outdoor bulbs, smart plugs, an indoor camera, and a
Cync products can be used with other platforms, but they have limited integrations with other platforms. Cync could be in a good position to attract new users if it continues to embrace Matter across all of its products. An attractive proposition is the lower price point compared to the other two.
Its reliance on BLE mesh is a weakness compared to its competitors. The lack of backward compatibility with existing Cync devices is one of the reasons the company is still hedging its bets on the new Interoperability standard.
