One of the more prominent Wear OS smartwatch makers, Fossil also makes hybrid models for users who prefer a bit more simplicity. The company launched a hybrid version of its latest watch at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The hybrid version of the Fossil Gen 6 watches features a sleek design similar to that of the previous Gen 6 watches. If you squint, you may see that the watch is mistaken for a Pixel Watch. My Gen 6 unit has a new home button that I am fond of.
There are many similarities between the two. The watch comes with a face that shows you at-a-glance updates on your health metrics. Your heart rate zones, blood oxygen levels, and sleep tracking are all included. The automatic workout detection will allow the watch to track certain exercises. Additional controls and functions are on board.

The Gen 6 hybrid wellbeing edition has a different interface than the Wear OS counterpart. You will always know what time it is because it has mechanical hands. When performing certain tasks, these hands will move out of the way so that you don't obstruct your view or use the hardware buttons to indicate a selection.

The battery life on the Wear OS version is abysmal, but the e-ink display on the watch can give you up to two weeks of battery life. When you have to top-up, the watch doesn't take advantage of Fossil's super-fast charging, so you can expect an 80% charge in about an hour.
The Gen 6 hybrid wellbeing edition will be on sale on January 5. The only case size the watch comes in is 44mm, which may be too large for some people. Additional straps can be purchased for $30 each.
