Intel's 13th Gen desktop CPUs have already delivered impressive performance to beat theirAMD counterparts and now Intel is bringing Raptor Lake to its mobile processor lineup There are also regular H-, P-, and U-series chips for a variety of more mainstream laptops.
The star of the show is the Core i9-13980HX, which has a 5.6 GHz and 24 core speed. Intel claims it is the world's fastest mobile processor, and it's the first time a laptop has a 24 core configuration.
The flagship Core i9-13980HX has eight performancecores and 16 efficiencycores, which is the same amount of performancecores and efficiencycores as the desktop 13th Gen processor. The previous Core i9-12950HX had the same number of performance and efficiency cores as the new one. It's all packaged into a chip that's designed to be used with the latest mobile graphics cards for high- performance games.
According to Intel, the result is up to 11 percent faster single-thread performance and up to 49 percent faster multitasking performance. We need to test the chips to see how the performance improvements affect battery life.
There is support for bothDDR4 andDDR5 with up to 128 gigabytes of RAM. The new 13th Gen mobile HX chips have support for a number of devices. There will be more than 60 13th Gen HX laptops in total, and all but one of them have committed to bring it to market.
The 13th Gen H-series processor from Intel has a base power of 45 watt. The 12th Gen versions have a boost clock of up to 400MHz.
Intel is launching 13th Gen versions of its 28W P-series for thin and light laptops and the 15W U-series for ultralight laptops. The P-series can top out at up to 14 cores, six performance and eight efficiency, with a max boost of 5.2 GHz and support for bothDDR4 andDDR5. The top U-series chip has 10 cores in total, two performance and eight efficiency.
A variety of laptops will be announced in the coming days at the Consumer Electronics Show. The regular H-series chips and the P- and U-series will be available in more than 300 designs by the year 2023.
New additions to Intel's 13th Gen desktop processor lineup are being announced. The new 35- and 65- watt chips have a balance of power efficiency and performance for gaming and productivity. Up to 11 percent performance gains and up to 34 percent multitasking improvements are promised by Intel.
