Enzo Fernandez during the World Cup Final between Argentina and France
Fernandez, 21, won the award for young player of the tournament during the World Cup

Talks are still going on with Benfica about signing an Argentine.

The World Cup winner has a release clause of over a hundred million dollars.

It would surpass the existing record fee of £98m paid for Romelu Lukaku and add to the record amount of money spent by the new owners.

The fee and structure of the deal are still being discussed.

The hope is that the value of the young players will be maintained over the course of long contracts.

Under new chairman Todd Boehly, the club agreed a pre-contract agreement with David Datro Fofana, a 20-year-old forward fromMolde.

Christopher Vivell, Boehly's new technical director, has been helping Boehly negotiate a deal for the former River Plate player.

With the contracts of Jorginho and N'Golo Kante coming to an end this season, the move for Fernandez is being done.

While it is thought that France's Kante has a good chance of getting a new deal, the future of Italy's Jorginho is not certain.

While they are winless in their last five away matches in the premier league, they have one win in their last five games at home.

Analysis - 'The complete skill set, but a bit rash'

The co- creator of "breaking the lines" is a Portuguese football player.

It's difficult to overstate how good he has been for the club. After arriving from Argentina, he was immediately put into the starting line-up by the new manager.

The first time I saw him, he scored a goal just before the half-time break. When I watch players for the first time, I feel like the game comes naturally to him.

He has all the skills. He's been playing in the double pivot with Florentino Luis, who has more of a defensive profile, and he has that mix of a deep-lying playmaker and box-to-boxMidfielder.

One flaw he has is being a bit rash in his tackles; he can get himself booked early on so he may need to adjust that, but his biggest skillset is just how complete he is.

Fans of the club know that they can't afford to keep the players for a long time. They bought Darwin Nunez because they were going to sell him.

They are resigned to losing these players, but also aware that their club will demand a lot of money. They were able to improve their squad in the summer thanks to the sale of Nunez.
