South Korea's first-ever lunar orbiter Danuri has sent black-and-white images of Earth and the lunar surface, including this photo taken on December 31, 2022.

Black-and-white photos of the Moon's surface have been sent by the national space center.

Danuri was launched on a rocket from the United States in August of 2022.

The images were taken from less than 75 miles over the Moon and show the lunar surface and Earth.

The images and videos will be used to find a landing site for the moon in 2032.

The center said that Danuri is circling the moon.

The mission will include mapping and analyzing lunar terrain and measuring magnetic strength.

The technology will be used to transmit photos and videos to Earth.

Danuri's achievements have been hailed as a "historical moment" by the president.

South Korea wants to land a spaceship on the Moon by 2032 and on Mars by 2045
