Donovan Mitchell Drops 71 Points for Cavs vs. Bulls; 7th Player Ever to Score over 70

In Monday night's overtime win over the Chicago Bulls, Mitchell dropped a career-high 71 points and added 11 assists and eight rebound.

Mitchell is the seventh player in NBA history to score at least 70 points in a game.

Mitchell shot 22-of-34 from the field, 7-of-15 from three-point range and 20-of-25 from the free throw line in the win. He scored on a tip-in with three seconds left in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

There was a point guard missing for the second game in a row because of a thumb injury. Cedi Osman scored 19 points off the bench for Cleveland.

The only players ever to score 70 points in a game are Kobe Bryant and David Thompson.

Mitchell spent the first five years of his career with the Utah Jazz before he was traded to Cleveland. It didn't take him long to adjust to his new surroundings, as the three-time All-Star is averaging career-highs of 28.0 points, 48.6 percent shooting and 41.1 percent from beyond the 3-point line.

The Phoenix Suns will be the opponent for the Cavs when they return to play on Wednesday.
