EA Sports lost a whole lot of Madden 23 files over the holiday.

Video games about sports are terrible. They don't change much from year to year except for roster updates and graphics updates. The fun stays about the same as the game does. As sports franchises turn their attention to money-making modes like Ultimate Team or Diamond Dynasty, the fun may be decreasing. Madden NFL is one of the worst games.

I don't have to tell you how low the Madden franchise has gone. You can find a library of creators with in-depth videos about the decline in quality of Madden games by searching the internet. It's possible to do that with any sports game. The hockey series has seen a decline in ratings in recent years. With the popularity of football in America, Madden has become the poster child for sports video games, and this past week, Madden may have made their biggest blunder ever, a serious whoopsy-daisy, if you will.

Madden’s Christmas blunder

I don't blame you if you don't know anything about Madden. I haven't played Madden 23 in a while because I'm a weak- willed individual who succumbs to peer pressure too quickly. I hope you don't get upset when you realize what Madden did to its users.

Madden gave its users a bad franchise mode for Christmas. I think they were on the naughty list because they didn't steal other people's credit cards to buy more MUT packs. Connected Franchise Mode is the only mode that some people, including myself, play on Madden. It is a way to play with friends and play against each other.

I won't play their game if I can't play connected franchise mode. It would hopefully only be a few days before Connected Franchises were back up and running again. It is not possible to say yes.

There are two days left. They took two days to get their second most popular mode up and running. The incompetence of the company never ceases to impress me. It's okay, whatever. Maybe it was a big problem that needed to be solved. It is working again and people can play with their friends again. The Madden Direct account gave players the thumbs up.

The next day, this was posted on social media. Oopsie's! Not everyone is solved. We wanted our users back so that you could spend more money on our terrible product, even though we told you everything was good to go. We don't care about this game mode, so we put minimal effort into fixing it, and once the masking tape began to hold, we told you all that it was okay to go back. It wasn't the case.

That was how the message above was feeling. Now that there's a problem, they don't do anything, hoping that minimal effort will hold them over as it always has

The Madden 23 news keeps getting worse

It may have destroyed several users' files because of minimal effort.

Hello Madden Franchise Community,

We wanted to provide you with an update and next steps around your Online Franchise, CFM Leagues and FOTF saves from 12/28.

From the Developers: On Wednesday 12/28 around 2:45 pm EST, Players trying to access the Franchise server were given an error that leagues were unavailable. The issue persisted until 12:45 am EST on Thursday 12/29. Unfortunately, if you logged into Franchise leagues during this time, your data was affected due to a data storage issue that resulted in Franchise files being corrupted.

Note: Players and leagues who did not log in during that window, your leagues were not impacted and are currently safe to log into and play.

First off, we are sorry that this happened. We know how important your franchises are to you and we are actively working on a fix to restore some files via a backup as soon as possible. However, not all affected leagues can be restored. The team is currently projecting around 40% of leagues to be recovered. We will communicate an updated timeline next week around the potential restoration of save files from a backup.

If you logged in during the above window, we encourage you to start a new franchise as theEA mode is up and running. Stay tuned to @MaddenNFLDirect for updates around Franchise restoration.”

This is a statement from the Madden developers. It was said that anyone who tried to access franchise mode between December 28 and December 29 had their file corrupted and erased. After Madden told players it was okay to try to get back on franchise mode, players were given a huge middle finger. Talk about your all time fuck-ups. Yes, talk about a funny gaffe. I'm pretty sure all those players loved losing their six-year franchise where they built a 93 overall dynasty against their friends with the X-Factor rookies. I think they were all fine.

Some of the leagues may be restored, but they don't give a time frame for that. 40 percent of files will be saved, according to their projections. More than half of all files are gone. Madden is trying to save face by giving players a figure that gives them a little bit of hope that their franchise will be recovered, even though the number is likely to be less than 10%. It's a pity.

Madden has dealt with difficulties logging in. If the problem was just that some users were having trouble logging in, players would forget about it quickly. Flex Tape wouldn't be able to mend the tear caused by saying that it's okay to punish franchise players for logging in. How can the company be trusted anymore? I don't care how many dances you add to the game, I lost my 22-year-old X-factor quarterback.

Madden may try to save face by offering an animation that can make DeVonta Smith floss, but it is sad. If Madden does this as an apology, how much do they think of their fans? I am aware that you paid for the game and possibly more in MUT, only for us to wipe your save file. It's your right to be upset. The add-on makes your players do a cool handshake. For only $4.99, we'll throw in a twaking emote. Our players are loved by us. Get out of here with that bull'shit.

I haven't played Madden in months but franchise mode is what keeps me a customer even if I don't buy every game every year. If I lost Javonte Morant, my 97 overall defensive end, my 97 overall corner, or my 98 overall tight end, I wouldn't be around anymore. Madden was going to be thrown in the trash next to the other two. I may still do that even though I wasn't affected. It is the correct thing to do.

DJ Dunson, a writer for Deadspin, was one of the unfortunate people whose league was ruined by the incompetence of the company. I'm angry. Every keyboard press of that sentence was fueled by rage. I don't think I'm responsible for him. Reports say that it wasn't just online franchises. Offline franchises were victims of this terrible corruption catastrophe. It was not safe to play the only simulation-style football video game on the market. My sympathies are all I can give.

Things aren't going to get better if this doesn't hurtEA's pockets If they knew we were going to keep buying the game and spending fake money on virtual cards, why would they attempt to improve it? Don't buy Madden! It's time to stop caring about the game because they don't care about you.
