The tennis player has throat and breast cancer.

The 18-time Grand Slam singles champion will begin treatment in New York later this month.

Both of the cancers had been caught early.

She said that she was hoping for a positive outcome from the double whammy. I'll fight with all I have and it's going to stink for a while.

Navratilova noticed a lump in her neck in November.

Stage one throat cancer was found after a follow up biopsy.

She was diagnosed with an unrelated cancer after a lump was found in her breast.

Navratilova was going to cover the Australian Open from the Tennis Channel studio, but will instead make some remote appearances.

The nine-time Wimbledon singles champion said she felt "helpless" after she was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 but decided to go public with the news to help other women
