According to a new article by The New York Times, Santos has been telling a fictional story about his life for a long time.

According to The Times, Pedro Vilarva dated the disgraced politician for a few months before moving in with him.

Vilarva said that Santos, who was elected to represent a Long Island district, rarely contributed to bills.

Vilarva said that he was an investor in Citigroup. One day it's one thing and the next it's something else. He didn't go to work.

The Times was told by Citigroup that there was no record ofSantos there. Goldman said it had no record of his employment.

Vilarva said that he was surprised with plane tickets to Hawaii. The tickets didn't exist according to The Times. Vilarva noticed that his cell phone was missing.

He believed that it was pawned bySantos.

The Times reported in 2008 thatSantos was accused of stealing a checkbook from his mother's care giver.

The newspaper said that the man used the checkbook to make fraudulent purchases in Brazil. According to The Times, he confessed to the crime and was charged, but the case is not finished.

He told the newspaper that this revelation broke his ex-boyfriend's heart. He said that he woke up in the morning and packed his stuff and called his father.

Vilarva told The Times that he was gullible and worried about the impact lying could have on an elected official.

He said he would be scared to have that person in charge.
