The Eagles later said Sweat is expected to be released from the hospital at some point Sunday night.

He has had his best season. He recorded his first career pick-six in the Week 16 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles drafted a pass-rusher in the fourth round. He flourished in his first full season as a starter in 2021. He reached the Pro Bowl after posting 7.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss and one forced fumbled.

Despite missing out on a second Pro Bowl nod, Sweat has arguably been better.

"While the Eagles lead the league with eight Pro Bowl selections, Sweat has to be one of the biggest Pro Bowl snubs this year. He is currently PFF's ninth-ranked edge rusher by overall grade, as he's already totaled 13 sacks, one forced fumble and one pick-six against Dak Prescott. He has improved every year and didn't deserve to miss out on a Pro Bowl nod this season."

The defense deserves a lot of the credit for the 13-2 record. Philadelphia is first in adjusted sack rate and fifth in defensive efficiency. Sweat's contribution off the edge is reflected in the latter.

The Eagles are one win away from the top seed in the playoffs. Sweat's absence would be a big blow to a team that is trying to make it to the Super Bowl.
