Tom Brady's ticket to the playoffs for a 14th consecutive season was punched by the Buccaneers on Sunday when they overcame two double-digit deficits to beat the Carolinas 30-24.
The Bucs didn't come back from a deficit of 14 points or more in the entire season. The streak of games without a touchdown for Brady and Mike Evans was the longest in their careers.
Three touchdown passes from Brady to Evans changed everything.
A 63-yarder was sent to Evans. The score gave Evans 1,000 receiving yards for the ninth season in a row, tying Tim Brown for the second most in NFL history. The touchdown changed the complexion of the game.
Ryan Succop kicked a 22-yard field goal to cut the Carolina lead to fourteen points.
On the first drive of the second half, Sean Murphy-Bunting picked off a Sam Darnold pass, but the field goal attempt by Ryan Succop was blocked.
The Bucs were down 21-10 at the start of the fourth quarter. The last time Brady threw two 50-yard touchdown passes in the same game was in 2016 The score was followed by a failed two-point conversion and the score was 21-16 with 13 minutes to go.
Brady connected with Evans for a 30 yard touchdown to give the Bucs the lead with 6:47 left. The two-point conversion pass was made by Chris Godwin.
Brady sneaked in from the goal line after a Leonard Fournette score was taken off the board following a review. It's Brady! The crowd is chanting Brady!
The field goal made it 30-24.
The win on Sunday was the first for the Bucs this season in which they have given up at least 20 points.
Regardless of what happens at the Atlanta Falcons next week, Brady and the rest of the team are assured of a spot in the playoffs. They will host the first round of the playoffs if they win the division.
