What’s the deal with taxes and fees?

If you book with Flying Blue, you are at risk of paying more taxes and fees than you would with other programs. Flying Blue has fuel surcharge on some award tickets. You have to pay transportation security administration tax, departure fees and local taxes.

The cost of a Flying Blue award ticket should be compared with the cost of a paid ticket. If cash prices are low, it won't be a good idea to book an award ticket. If you agree with our valuations, you can get Flying Blue miles at 1.2 cents per mile.
