Donald Trump was referred to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution.

If Donald Trump isn't charged and convicted for his actions related to the Capitol insurrection, Rep. Adam Kinzinger is afraid.

He worried that failure to hold Trump accountable would set a dangerous bar for future leaders in an interview with CNN.

I fear for the future of this country if he is found not guilty. The bar is to stay in power.

He said it was obvious that Trump's actions were problematic from a presidential perspective.

If this is not a crime, I don't know what to think. There is no limit to what a president can do if he can cause an insurrection and not be held accountable.

"If he is not guilty of a crime, I frankly fear for the future of this country … "

CNN will be on January 1, 2020.

The final report on Trump's attempts to stay in power was released in January. Donald Trump Jr., his fiancée, and Trump's former adviser were all interviewed by the committee.

The charges against Trump were forwarded to the Department of Justice. In October, Kinzinger said that the torch had been passed to the DOJ.

He told ABC that it was up to them to stop this from happening again and take control. What type of country would you like to live in? We have been doing it the wrong way. We can do more.

The 118th Congress will convene on Tuesday and four members of the committee won't be coming back. In October of 2021, Kinzinger said he wouldn'tseek reelection. In 2021, Murphy said she wouldn't be running again. Rep. Liz Cheney lost her primary and Rep. Elaine Luria lost her general election race.
