Mac Jones was fined two times by the National Football League for unnecessary roughness in last week's loss to the Cincinnati Bengal.

Jones was fined $13,000 for dropping to the ground in front of Eli Apple during a return of a possible fumbled ball, but Jones said it was an attempt to impede Apple's path to another player.

Jones was fined $10,609 for trying to recover Rhamondre Stevenson's lost fumbled ball.

After the game, Jones said he tried to grab the ball to save the game, but it squirted out into another pile. At the end of the day, you have to compete for the ball, because it's a live ball until someone holds it up. I tried to get you to get it.

Jones has been fined in two games this season. He was fined $10,609 for flipping the ball at a Bills player in a game.

Jones' tackle attempt drew Apple's ire, and Apple struck Jones in the helmet after he got to his feet. Apple said after the game that he tripped him. I didn't think it was a good play. I have seen him do that before.

Jones said he was focused on being the best teammate he could be and earning the respect of the people he cares about. I have respect for everyone in the league and they are all trying to win.

The amount of fines is determined by the agreement between the league and its players.
