Apple acquired a classical music service. The year has ended without Apple releasing a classical music app.

"Apple Music plans to launch a dedicated classical music app next year combining Primephonic's classical user interface that fans have grown to love with more added features." It is not known if the app will be released in 2023.

Primephonic subscribers received six months of access to Apple Music for free after the company shut down. The Apple Classical app would replace Primephonic and give users a place to listen to classical music.

There are hidden references to the Apple Classical app in the Apple Music app forANDROID and the Apple Music app for ios There were more references to the app found on Apple's server.

It's possible that the company simply needs more time to work on this, since Apple said it would incorporate the best features of Primephonic. Primephonic compensated artists and other rights holders with a unique pay-per-second-listened model instead of a pay-per-play model, so it's possible that Apple is still trying to figure out a suitable model for the Apple Classical app.

It's not clear if the Apple Classical app will be released at some point in the future or not. If we hear back from Apple, we will update this story.
