Aryna Sabalenka says Wimbledon's decision to ban Russian and Belarusian players from playing in the tournament didn't change anything.

Wimbledon imposed a ban on top players after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which resulted in several top players missing out on the grand slam.

The tournament was stripped of its ranking points after being fined by the organizers.

"I'm really disappointed sport isn't in politics."

Speaking to Australian newspaper The Age, the 24-year-old added: "We're just athletes playing their sport. That's it. We're not about politics. If all of us could do something [about the war], we would do it, but we have zero control.

What happened when we were banned from Wimbledon? The Russian government is still doing this, and it's sad.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club doesn't know if the ban will stay in place for the 2023 tournament.

Having found herself unable to bear watching last year's action, she is hoping to return to the grass court major.

It was difficult. She was upset with their decision.

The atmosphere at Wimbledon is amazing. These people love tennis there and I miss them.

I want to play there in 2023 because of the people. If they decide to ban us again. I'm not interested in Wimbledon's decision. I will miss the people.
