An American Airlines employee died in an accident at the Montgomery Regional Airport. The FAA said Saturday.

The airport posted on social media that they were thinking and praying for the family.

The person who died in the accident has not been identified.

The airport was expected to be closed until at least Sunday due to first responders on the scene. Outbound and inbound flights have been stopped until further notice.

Today around 3 pm an American Airlines ground crew piedmont employee was involved in a fatality, no additional information is available at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased.

Envoy Air is the regional carrier that operated the American Airlines flight that was involved in the accident. The flight was supposed to leave at 3:51 p.m. but was canceled after the incident.

The standard for aircraft-related accidents involving injuries and deaths is being investigated by the FAA. The FAA said the investigation would be handled by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Passengers with flights scheduled should check with American Airlines for status changes.
