Michigan's botched snap sends TCU to the CFP title game (0:38)

The Michigan team botches the snap as the Frogs take over and seal their spot in the College Football Playoff championship game. 0:39

The College Football Playoff got off to a great start with the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl featuring the Michigan and TCU teams.

Things got interesting in the third quarter as the lead grew. The two teams combined to score 44 points. In the fourth, Michigan came back, but it wasn't enough to overcome the 51-45 loss.

The Frogs are the first team from the Big 12 to play in the playoffs. It's the second year in a row that Michigan has been eliminated in the semifinals of the playoffs.

Here are some of the big numbers from the contest.

The new Fiesta Bowl record is 96 points. The previous record was set by the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Florida Gators. It's the third-highest scoring game and the third-most combined points in the history of the AP top five.

The 51 points scored by the Frogs are the most ever in a bowl game. There have been five 50-point games in the history of theCFP.

Michigan became the first state to make history. The team gave up 51 points, which is second most in a bowl game. It's the third time in Jim Harbaugh's tenure that the Michigan squad has allowed at least 50 points. In the last two years, the Ohio State Buckeyes have had two instances against them.

The two teams scored 44 points in the third quarter. The previous record of 40 points in the fourth quarter of the 2016 national championship game was broken by that quarter's score.

This is the GREATEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF GAME EVER!!!

Each team scored at least 45 points in the Fiesta Bowl, making it the second top-five game in the Poll Era to do so. The Georgia and Oklahoma teams played in the Rose Bowl in the playoffs.

The Frogs ended a winless streak for the Big 12 as teams from the conference were a combined 0-4 in the playoffs.
