Bryce Young's 5 TDs lead Alabama to Sugar Bowl win (1:58)

Young scored five times in the Sugar Bowl as Alabama defeated Kansas State. There is a time and a place for it.

In the Sugar Bowl, Alabama overcame a two-touchdown deficit to beat Kansas State 45-20.

While a number of pro-bound college stars sat out bowl games that were not part of the College Football Playoff, the Tide and Cats had their best prospects on the field and made a number of memorable plays.

Young raised his hand to the Alabama fans as he was taken out of the game.

When we started practicing, it started. There's a lot of guys on this team that have given a lot to this program, and I think the way the team performed out there together was with something to prove. "If we had a dominant performance that we could show people that we deserved to do a little better than what we did in terms of the playoffs, we had a little bit of taste in our mouth."

Burton caught three passes and scored for Alabama. The running back had 142 yards from scrimmage. Young's other two scores went to Kobe Prentice and Ja'CoreyBrooks. Jase McClelland scored a touchdown.

Kansas State entered the Sugar Bowl on a four-game winning streak and was riding high after upsetting third-ranked TCU in the Big 12 Championship game.

The Sugar Bowl's first 10 points were scored by K-State, including a 41-yard field goal by Ty Zentner and a 95-yard touchdown run by Vaughn.

Alabama was on the verge of punting a third time when Young stepped up in a collapsing pocket and threw a short pass to the middle of the field for a 60 yard gain. Young stepped up to make sure Bond didn't get hurt on his touchdown pass.

The standard is something that we live by. It isn't just something that we can do once. For the future of the program, it goes on.

Young threw over the top to Burton for 47 yards to set up his 1-yard scoring pass to Latu that gave Alabama the lead.

The Kansas State coach said that he won the award for a reason.

Late in the first half, Kansas State drove to the Alabama 2 -- converting two fourth downs along the way -- only to fail on fourth-and- goal when Howard threw out of the reach of tight end Ben Sinnott.

The missed chance was costly.

Young completed three passes in 51 seconds and hit Burton from 12 yards out to make it 21-10 at the half.

"I'm proud that we came to the Sugar Bowl, I'm proud that we won the Sugar Bowl, but I'm proudest that there was a team out there that cared."
