Sione Veikoso died in a construction accident in his home state of Hawaii. He was a young man. The Honolulu Fire Department told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser that three men were trapped when a retaining wall behind a home partially collapsed. The family of Veikoso confirmed to the Star-Advertiser that he died on the scene. Two of the men who were trapped were taken to the hospital. The third injured man did not want to go to the hospital. "We are very sad to hear of the death of one of our brothers, Sione Veikoso," Sitake said. His passing is very sad. Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with his family at this time. Veikoso was a redshirt freshman at the time and played in one game. He started his collegiate career at Arizona State, appearing in one game for the SunDevils before moving to BYU this summer.
Family members told the Star-Advertiser that Veikoso was going back to school.
