Barnsley are chasing an immediate return to the Championship following relegation last season

Two stewards were taken to the hospital with head injuries, while two others were treated by doctors and paramedics.

The South Yorkshire club said that the incident was completely unacceptable and that they would not tolerate it.

Michael Duff was sent off after his team were denied a penalty.

"The club is currently reviewing all CCTV footage as it looks to gather as much evidence as possible," the statement on the Tykes website continued.

Those found guilty of encroaching onto the field of play will be punished according to the rules. In the case of a minor encroaching onto the field of play, the parents or guardian of the child in question will be banned from matches at Oakwell.

The club has a zero tolerance policy towards any form of foul or abusive behavior and condemns these actions which have brought the club into disrepute.
