Android Auto coolwalk redesign

  • Users are encountering an issue with Android Auto's Google Assistant on version 8.5.624594 of the app.
  • Saying "Hey Google" will not force the Assistant to be readily available for any queries.

The latest OS release seems to have caused some problems for the auto program.

The thread was created halfway through the month due to issues with the app. The main issue that users are reporting is the "Hey Google" command that opens its ears. The bottom bar of the assistant is blank when a command is given.

The issue is affecting phones from both companies. One user has reported the problem in detail using a Sony device. The current theory is that theAndroid 13 software may be incompatible with theAndroid Auto, which could cause it to not work.

The microphone icon on the center console's touch screen and the button on the steering wheel were found to process voice commands correctly. There is more digging that indicates that this is a critical issue. Attempts at unpairing/re-pairing the car from their phone and deletion of the cache from the phone have failed.

This isn't the first time we've heard of voice commands being ignored by the operating system. One user found that the helpers ignored the requests to complete the queries they were taking in.

The "Coolwalk" redesign has been slow to arrive in the hands of users, even for those who are in the alpha phase. Coolwalk brought a large upgrade for users, such as a split screen mode for all screen sizes and contextual suggestions for music and messages via the internet search engine.
