For the past five years, Apple has been working on a headset for augmented and virtual reality, and we are expecting the first version to arrive in 2023. This will be Apple's first new product category since the launch of the Apple Watch, and it will also be Apple's second Wearable.

Similar to the Apple Watch, the first AR/VR headset will be expensive and available in smaller quantities. Mixed reality is a term used for augmented and virtual reality. It combines virtual reality and augmented reality, putting virtual objects over the real world in some instances.

The Reality Pro or Reality One may be the final names for the headset.

Design

The curved front display of Apple's headset is expected to look similar to other headsets on the market. The display will sit against the face using a mesh material. It is expected that the headset will be lighter than most headsets currently on the market to make it more comfortable.

There could be physical controls and built-in audio capabilities.

Display

The mixed reality headset will have two high-resolution 4K micro-OLED displays and an external display with indicator information.

Capabilities

More than a dozen optical cameras are expected to be added to the headset by Apple. In virtual reality apps and games, the headset will be able to capture accurate facial movements.

According to reports, eight of the cameras will be used for augmented reality. Virtual objects will be placed in front of and behind real world objects for a seamless experience between the real and the virtual.

Leg movement can be captured with a pair of cameras. There could be an attached device component, such as an input accessory worn on the fingers, for controlling Apple's products.

Face ID and Touch ID are similar to iris scanning. It will have the same chips used in the MacBook Air as it does inside. A high-end main processor and a less powerful processor will be included.

Operating System and Functionality

xrOS stands for extended reality and represents both the augmented and virtual reality functions of the device

An App Store for the headset is expected to focus on gaming, streaming video, and communication. There is a possibility that Apple could work with media partners to create content that can be watched in virtual reality.

Apple could team up with game developers to create virtual reality games for the headset and it is expected to integrate with existing services like Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade.

The headset has been in development for a long time, and Apple has had to push the release date back several times as it has worked to overcome design issues and disagreements over the direction of the project.

The first version of the headset is expected to cost around $3,000 and will be used by developers, content creators, and professionals.

The headset could be introduced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in order to give developers time to create applications for the device before it launches. We could see it early in the year according to the analyst, who said it could be announced as early as January.

iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro (September 2023)

Every September, Apple releases some of its most reliable product updates with the iPhone refresh. We're expecting the iPhone 15 lineup in 2023, and we can always count on that.

There are rumors that Apple will release a number of devices, including the high-end iPhone 15 Ultra, which could be a new name for the device. Features not found in the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro or the two standard iPhone 15 models could be found in the 6.7-inch model.

Size and Design

We can expect two 6.1-inch and two 6.7-inch phones in the new iPhone 15 models. There have been rumors of a new rounded off design similar to the one on the 16 and 14 inch MacBook Pro models.

Solid state volume and power buttons are similar to the Home button on the Touch ID phones, but instead of using mechanical buttons.

It would require Apple to add two more Taptic Engines at the side of the iPhone 15 Pro models, but it could have benefits.

The Dynamic Island, which is limited to the iPhone 14 Pro models, is expected to be supported by all of the new iPhones in the years to come.

USB-C

Apple is rumored to be moving away from Lightning in favor of the same cable used for Macs and iPad. Universal charging will be possible on a lot of the Apple device lineup, as well as on some models, with the help of the newusb-c.

Data transfer up to 40Gb/s is expected to be supported by the iPhone 15 Pro model. That's limited to the iPhone 15 Pro, though, and the standard iPhone 15 models will still have the same 480Mb/s speed limit.

Periscope Camera

The periscope lens may be limited to the high-end 6.7-inch iPhone 15 "Pro" or "Ultra" depending on the name of the phone.

The rumor is that the periscope lens technology will only be found in the larger iPhone. Improved optical zoom will be possible with the periscope lens. 6x optical zoom is expected to be implemented in the current iPhones.

With 6x optical zoom and digital zoom, the iPhone 15 Ultra could have one of the super zoom features that can be found in the other versions of the phone. Up to 100x digital zoom can be achieved with the 10x optical zoom sensor from SAMSUNG.

Sony's image sensors are expected to be used by Apple in the new iPhone 15 models. Improvements in portraits and other images can be made with the help of the sensor. It's not known if the new sensor will be used across the lineup or only in the higher-end models.

A17 Chip

The A16 chips will be used for the standard iPhone 15 models, but the next- generation A17 chip will be used for the Pro models.

The performance of the chip will be increased by 10 to 15 percent and the power consumption will be reduced by up to 30 percent.

RAM

The current iPhone 14 Pro models have a maximum of 6 gigabytes of RAM.

Macs and Displays

There are some exciting updates coming, including a new 15-inch MacBook Air and the first Apple Silicon Mac Pro.

Mac Pro (First Half of 2022)

The Mac Pro has not been refreshed in over a year. It took Apple some time to develop a new version of the Mac Pro because they needed to evolve their chips before they could compete with Intel's high-end chips.

We don't expect any design changes for the Mac Pro and it will likely use the same frame and housing as before.

Apple is expected to use an M2 Ultra chip which is an iteration of the M1 chip. It could have up to a 24 core processor, up to a 76 core graphics card, and up to 192 gigabytes of RAM.

There is no word on when the Mac Pro will be released, but there are rumors that it could be early in the year.

14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro (Spring 2023 to Late 2023)

The 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are due for an update in three years. The last design change came in 2021.

The M2 Pro and M2 Max chips are expected to be used in the new MacBook Pro models. According to rumors, the M2 Max chip will feature up to 12 and 38 cores.

15-inch MacBook Air (Spring 2023 to Late 2023)

The current MacBook Air measures in at 13.6 inches, but Apple is working on a larger version that would be between the 14 and 16 inch MacBook Pro models.

The 15-inch MacBook Air is expected to use the same general design as the 13-inch MacBook Air with flat edges, a large Force Touch trackpad, a keyboard with function keys, and no fan.

It is not expected to include a mini-LED or ProMotion display technology, as Apple will reserve those features for the higher end MacBook Pro models.

Mac mini

The machine was supposed to be in the Mac mini family, but it wasn't. There is a rumor that a new Mac mini will be released in 2023.

It's likely that the Mac mini will get an iterative update rather than a major redesign. We can expect no design changes with the same form factor, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Apple's M2 and M2 Pro are used in the Mac mini. The M2 was already available in the MacBook Air. It's not clear when a new Mac mini will be launched.

iMac

The iMac hasn't been refreshed in over a year. Apple's M2 or newer chips are likely to be in an updated version.

There are rumors that Apple is working on a larger-screened version of the iMac, but little has been said about it. Mark Gurman said that it could feature an M3 chip, and it's also possible that this larger iMac could be an iMac Pro.

We don't know anything about the launch of a refreshed iMac or the debut of a 27 inch iMac.

27-inch Display

Apple is working on a number of new displays. One of these displays will be a successor to the high-end Pro Display XDR, and the other could be a follow-up to the studio display.

One of the displays will be 27 inches in size and will feature mini-LED technology and ProMotion support, but little else is known about them at this point in time. There will be new display options in the future.

HomePod (Early 2023)

Apple is working on a new version of the HomePod that will come out in 2023, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, while Mark Gurman has said that the HomePod could be smaller than the original.

The speaker is expected to have a touch-integrated display and an S8 chip, making it a more expensive option than the mini. The new HomePod is rumored to be launched early in the next decade.

Apple Watch Series 9 (Fall 2023)

We are expecting the Apple Watch Series 9 in 3 years. We haven't heard anything about the Series 9 so far.

The new health sensors that Apple is working on don't seem to be ready yet. We don't know the refresh cycle of the Ultra because it is new, but Apple could possibly refresh the Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch.

AirPods Max

A new version of the AirPods Max could be on the way. The next AirPods to get an update will be the AirPods Max, according to past launch timelines.

An H2 chip, improved Active Noise Cancellation, a U1 chip for Find My Precision Finding, and adaptive transparency can be found in a new version of the AirPods Max.

iPad mini and iPad Air (Late 2023)

The iPad mini is due for a refresh because it hasn't been updated in over a year. A new iPad mini is expected in the early to mid-20th century, according to an analyst.
