According to in-app warnings, Dark Sky will stop working on January 1st. According to 9to5Mac, Apple removed Dark Sky from the App Store a few months ago, after announcing it would be shutting down the service in 2020. Now is the best time to find a new weather app.

The most obvious alternative is Apple's own built-in Weather app. There is a document titled "How Dark Sky users can use the Apple Weather app" that talks about how features from the former have been added to the later.

I recommend Carrot Weather, AccuWeather, Weather Underground, and Ventusky, as well as other third-party apps. If you are looking for other options, be sure to look out for scammy apps hiding an unreasonable recurring subscription behind a free trial.

Dark Sky still has a small amount of life left in it, despite the app no longer providing weather data. The weather data will be available for developers until March 31st, 2023, despite Apple's earlier announcement that it would be shut down. The de-facto replacement for the company is called WeatherKit and can be used by developers. The website will be around for three more months as well.
