The biggest news last week was the announcement that scientists had succeeded in getting more energy out of a controlled fusion reaction than they had hoped for.

It took a very tangible step towards reality for fusion power to suddenly take a very tangible step towards reality.

It doesn't mean that anyone will hook a fusion power plant up to the grid tomorrow. It gives a boost to a field that has been confident in recent weeks. There has been a wave of startup and investments. In the last year, investors invested over $2 billion in fusion startup.

Hundreds of millions of dollars in capital has been raised from many of those investments. It will take a long time for fusion power to come to fruition.

If you don't have a lot of dry powder for fusion, what do you do? Not every fusion startup is a unicorn. There are a lot of companies trying to come up with new ideas for power plants and software companies trying to build the supply chain for a $40 trillion industry, according to a new report.
