A car crash has left India's wicketkeeper in a stable condition.

The man fell asleep and lost control of his car. It caught fire after flipping over two times.

According to reports in India, the man had injuries to his head, back and leg.

The crash took place close to his hometown of Roorkee in the state of Uttarakhand.

"Rishabh is stable and undergoing scans," Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah tweeted.

He is being treated by the doctors and his family. We will provide him with all the help he needs.

Delhi Capitals head coach and former Australia captain Ricky Ponting wished Pant a speedy recovery in a tweet which read: "Hope you're on the mend and back on your feet soon."

The Indian cricketer has played 33 Tests, 30 one-day internationals and 66 Twenty20s for his country.

He top-scored with 93 in the first day of the second Test as India beat Bangladesh 2-0.

He wasn't included in the squad for the three Twenty20s and three one-day internationals against Sri Lanka.
