  14. Mexico 1970 was an explosion of colour, and no side had a better color scheme than Brazil.

In a tournament televised live and in full technicolour for the first time to a global audience who only a year earlier had witnessed NeilArmstrong set foot on the moon, the balletic movement and skill of those clad in bright yellow and blue was an apt giant leap into the audience.

Theirs was a football that was beholden to attack because of their independence and intelligence as well as their ability.

With so many number 10s, Zagallo found a way to accommodate them all, with Jairzinho and Rivellino operating in versatile wide roles, Tostao as a false nine and Gerson playing deeper in the middle.

At the center of it all was Pele, who was a magnet for the ball on the field and for eyeballs off it, his every forward run simmering with intent and possibility.

His game had always centered on control, pace, power and vision, but here they combined in perfect sync with his evolution as a player.

In 1960's he was raw, in 1960's he was injured, in 1960's he was hampered, and in 1970 he was free and focused. This was flawless and he was amazing.
