SMU set a team record with 13 games of 300 passing yards or more in the past two seasons, as Mordecai had 7,152 passing yards with 72 touchdown and 22 pick ups. After three seasons as a backup, he transferred to SMU.
Mordecai would be the second quarterback to transfer from Wisconsin. Nick Evers was added to the Badgers' recruiting class.
In each of the past two seasons, Mordecai was a semifinalist for an award. He had a team-record 39 touchdown passes in his first year as SMU's quarterback.
Under Fickell and Longo, the Wisconsin offense will be restructured.
