A father from Alaska missed out on a chance to receive a new heart after his Alaska Airlines flight was canceled due to the winter storm. Patrick Holland was told by the University of Washington Medical Center that he was in the running for a heart transplant. According to CNN, the 56-year-old was given an 8-hour window to fly to Seattle for a heart transplant. His flight was canceled when he arrived at the airport. Alaska Airlines tried to get him on the next flight, but it had to be changed. Holland missed the 8-hour window and the heart was given to another person. Holland said that he cried more that day than he has in his life and that he never had an emotion like that before. I immediately said, "Thank God, there's going to be a family that's going to save someone's dad, someone's brother, someone's uncle." Holland wants to stay in Seattle for a while so he can keep up with his family.
