The waterfront homes in Crystal Beach were encased in ice after a storm hit the area over the weekend.

Fort Erie is a town next to Lake Erie in Canada. CNN reported that the National Weather Service had predicted that winds over Lake Erie would reach 60 mph and that waves would top 25 feet at the peak of the storm.

The cinematic facades became a hot spot for tourists.

There are pictures of ice covered lake front homes in Fort Erie and Port Colborne. People are going to see them on the roads that are still closed. People are walking on unsafe lake ice. Stay out of harm's way.

The "blister of the century" left thousands without power and 34 people dead in western New York.

With the Erie County area expected to get into the 50s in the next few days, authorities are getting ready for the thaw. Erie County Commissioner of the Department of Homeland Security Emergency Services Dan Neaverth Jr. said authorities are preparing for possible flooding.

Neaverth said that they were focused on the potential for a rapid melt.
