Women's college basketball has not changed in the last few years. Nothing could be as unpredictable. Predicting how veteran players will do in a new environment is difficult as the era of seemingly endless player movement begins.

Our preseason list had 11 players on it, but they weren't ranked. Angel Reese is in the top spot, but not many similarities exist after that. The players expected to make a big impact have not beenfactors. In the months of November and December, others were off the radar. Some of the diminished returns have been caused by injuries.

Virginia Tech's second-ranked player is out indefinitely after having finger surgery. There are two players on the preseason list that have yet to play.

Three of the four high-profile transfers were ranked in October. Rickea Jackson's spot is lower than anticipated. The new players didn't meet expectations and that made it difficult for the Lady Vols.

The Texas team is no longer in the top five. Sonya Morris and Shaylee Gonzalez did not play well enough to be considered.

The 11 players who made their first appearance on our transfer rankings have exceeded expectations. Some players have helped drive their teams to places they weren't before. Reese is in the top 10, but many of them are behind him.

Angel Reese got inside the lane and drew two opportunities for LSU.

This is the first thing. Reese is a junior at LSU.

Reese's production can't be ignored no matter who the opponent is. She was the top player on the transfer list at the beginning of the season and her eye-catching numbers have left little doubt that she will fit in there. Reese leads the nation in rebound and double-doubles in every game she has played. She averages 24.6 points per game. Reese had 25 points and 20 rebound in LSU's final non conference game, against Oregon State. The previous ranking was one.

She has become a catalyst because of the injuries, answering every call against the toughest schedule. There are four. A senior at Kansas State.

Her final season at Oklahoma was ruined when she fell out of the rotation and averaged just 2.6 points. Gregory jumped immediately in Manhattan, a welcome occurrence for a team that was dealing with a season-ending injury to their star center. With two 30-point games and a 24 point performance in an upset of Iowa, Gregory has taken over as the best player and is currently averaging 21.0 points and 6.4 rebound. The previous ranking was not currently ranked.

There are five. Cook is a junior in Illinois.

The combination of Cook and Green has made a difference. Illinois won 11 games before Christmas. The play of Cook, who is averaging more points (17.9), rebound (4.3) and assists (4.3), and shooting at a higher percentage (50.3%), is the main reason for that. Cook got everyone's attention with a 33 point performance in a close loss at Indiana in December. The previous ranking was not currently ranked.

There are six. Puisis is a junior in the South Florida area.

Puisis didn't find her footing at Florida State despite being a top-50 recruit. She averaged 6.9 points as a sophomore, but the long-distance shooting that she was known for never developed. She is flourishing for the Bulls because of the shooting stroke. Puisis has given them a third scoring option with Elena Tsineke and Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu, and she has excelled against some of the best teams in the country, with 22 points against Michigan, 25 against Texas and 20 against Ohio State. The previous ranking was not currently ranked.

The Maryland women's basketball team defeated the Connecticut women's basketball team by an 85 78 score at home.

There are seven. The girl is from Maryland.

The change from the Ivy League to the Big Ten didn't make much of a difference to the man. She's not scoring as much as she did a year ago, but she's shooting the same percentage and getting the same amount of rebound. He has been the glue for Maryland, leading the team in minutes and serving as a good complement to Diamond Miller. In the biggest win of the season, she scored 20 points. The previous ranking was 18.

There are eight. A senior at Iowa State, Soares is 6 feet tall.

It was almost impossible to project how well Soares' game would translate to the Big 12 despite being a top 100 ranked high school prospect. The answer is clear. The previous ranking was not currently ranked.

There are nine. Petree is a senior at Boilermakers.

Petree's third stop seems to be her best. Petree has excelled with the Boilermakers after three good years at Bradley and one bad year at Rutgers. She leads the team with 17.8 points per game, which has led to the team's 10-2 record. Her shooting percentage is 10 percentage points better than her previous four years and her scoring is off just slightly from her best season. The previous ranking was not currently ranked.

A dominant rebounder throughout her three years at West Virginia, Martinez has provided the same kind of production and she should be a key part in Arizona's quest to knockStanford from the top of the Pac-12 She's third in the conference in boards per game and ninth in field goal percentage. A big part of Arizona's balanced approach is the fact that four veterans average in double figures. The previous rank was 17

Jackson knocked down the jumper.

Rickea Jackson is a senior.

This ranking would be higher if the Lady Vols hadn't had a two-game suspension. Jackson has been a good scorer when she's on the floor. She leads Tennessee in points per game and Rebounds. The meshing of four transfers with the holdover Lady Vols hasn't been as smooth as expected, and Tennessee is a disappointing 8-6. The previous ranking was four.

13th The Diamond Battles is a senior in Georgia.

With so much turnover on the roster and coaching staff, Battles has filled that role admirably, just as she did at the University of Central Florida for four years. Battles is currently averaging 15.0 points and shooting 39.0% from the field, both of which are career highs. Georgia's defense has allowed just 54.7% points per game and is anchored by the defensive player of the year. The previous ranking was eight.

The 14th. The girl is from Indiana.

The best of the bunch has to be the Hoosiers, who have integrated their transfers as seamless as any team in the country. After two seasons at Oregon, where she was a top 10 recruit in 2020 and now plays close to her home in Fishers, Indiana, she is realizing more of her potential. Despite senior leader Grace Berger being out with a leg injury, her 12.3 points rank second on the Hoosiers. The previous rank was 21.

There are fifteen. Taylorsoule is a senior at Virginia Tech.

Owusu was the Hokies' transfer most expected to be on this list, but he has been replaced by Soule. She is the Hokies' second-leading rebounder and field goal shooter, and she is also the team's second-leading scorer. The previous ranking was twenty.

Adia Barnes turned the portal into a trio of starting players. The previous rank was 28.

18. Chrislyn Carr is a senior at Louisville.

While the backcourt trio of Carr, Van Lith and Jones hasn't clicked yet, Carr has shown some signs of being the player who was the Big 12 Freshman of the Year at Texas Tech in 2019. She had the best performance by a Louisville player this year. The previous ranking was fifteen.

A new date. Sam Brunelle is a senior.

Brunelle is one of the reasons for a Virginia resurgence. Brunelle decided to transfer closer to home to finish her playing career because her playing time diminished at Notre Dame. Brunelle has averaged more points per game since her freshman season and she is the leading 3-point shooter on the team. The previous ranking was not currently ranked.

A new day has arrived. Fair is a senior at Syracuse.

A player who followed her coach to a bigger program has remained the same potent, volume scorer that she was at Buffalo. Fair was the perfect bridge player to keep the Orange competitive. She is third in the conference at 18.6 points per game and fifth in assists with 4.2. The previous rank was 27.

There is a new date for this event. Sara Scalia is a senior in Indiana.

Scalia has helped Indiana become a better team despite her low scoring average. With Berger out, the Hoosiers are in a good position to get a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. It was never possible that Indiana would be as good as it has been over the last two years. Scalia is still making two shots from deep, which is more than any other player in the state. The previous ranking was 13.

There is a new date for this article. Morgan Jones is a senior at the University of Louisville.

Jones didn't find the level of consistency that made her an all-ACC first teamer in 2020 and second-team all-conference at Florida State. Jones has scored in double figures in three of her past five games and her 18 points against Texas were crucial to the win. The previous ranking was seven.

There is a new date for this. Carr is a senior in Arkansas.

A starter in all but two of her 128 career games that also included stops at Kansas State and Syracuse, Carr slid into the Razorbacks' lineup immediately. In late November and early December she made 17 3-pointers and averaged 16 points. Carr is fourth on the team in scoring with 11.4 points per game. She has 104 attempts from beyond the rim, which is eighth in the country. The previous ranking was not currently ranked.

The numbers from her days in the Mountain West weren't going to translate to South Beach, but the transition has been smooth for her. From the beginning, she has been reliable and steady. She leads the team in minutes, assists, and points and is second in scoring and rebound. If her past two games are any indication, then even better things are to come. The previous rank was 26.

Kennedy Brown, Duke, Brinae Alexander, Maryland, Saniya Rivers, NC State, Myah Taylor, Ole Miss, and Alyza Winston are also considered.
