Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin said a Texas Tech player spit on one of his players and may have used a racial slur.
The teams got into a fight after Texas Tech recovered a fumbled ball by Ole Miss' Dayton Wade. Jordan Watkins was given a personal foul for pushing and shoving.
Kiffin said the penalty should have been on Texas Tech's Moore instead of Watkins.
Jordan Watkins was not in the fight. Everyone knew about the fight because their own coaches were yelling at the guy.
There was a racial slur involved, but that's not what we're talking about. Are you aware that I brought our own 71 up to the officials? He isn't crying because he got spit on, but because something was said.
Kiffin was asked if a Texas Tech player used a racial slur towards one of his players.
I am not going to say that he made a racial slur to our player because I did not hear it. I wasn't told that was said in that incident. That would be a huge problem.
Both of them are black.
During the game, Kiffin was so upset that he didn't think it was fair that his player was given a penalty.
"I will defend our players when a kid spits on them and is accused of a national audience that it is him," Kiffin said. Jordan needs to deal with this.
Kiffin spoke with the Texas Tech coach about the incident after the game.
One of them is laughing because he got off. They're losing their mind on him. I spoke to their coach. He said it was crazy how the officials were handling the situation. I said that it was really bad that your guy got the penalty for spitting. He said, "Yeah, I know."
