There are not many ski resorts in Europe that can be booked with points. There are some boutique options with the Small Luxury Hotels of the World partnership. I wanted to take a closer look at one of the upcoming properties in this post.

Basics of the Six Senses Crans-Montana, Switzerland

The Six Senses Crans-Montana is expected to open on February 1,23. The hotel will be located on the north side of the Rhone Valley. Crans-Montana can be reached by car from either the airport or the city.

There will be 78 accommodations, including terrace rooms and suites, at the resort. The aesthetic of the hotel isSwiss Chalet architecture and Alpine sophistication.

There will be three restaurants and bars at the property, including a bar intended for skiers. There will be a yoga studio, nine treatment rooms, fitness facilities, and more at the property. There will be a large indoor pool, a rooftop swimming pool, a garden, a hot tub, and more.

Crans-Montana will be open year-round as this part of Switzerland is also beautiful in the summer. Crans-Montana has an average of 300 days of sunshine a year.

There are some images of the property that can be found below.

I am a fan of the Six Senses brand, and this property looks amazing. It is priced accordingly as a gorgeous hotel in an expensive destination. In ski season, the hotel retails for over a thousand dollars per night, while in the summer it's less than a hundred dollars per night.

What frustrates me about IHG & Six Senses

InterContinental Hotels Group owns Six Senses, so on the surface it appears to be a hotel with a robust loyalty program.

It is frustrating that Six Senses properties have not been integrated into the ihgone rewards program. Only a small number of Six Senses properties are bookable using I hg One rewards points. The Six Senses Crans-Montana isn't bookable.

The missed opportunity is in the luxury sector. I understand that some Six Senses properties don't need IHG One rewards members to fill rooms. For the overall value of the hotel group and loyalty program, it would be beneficial to offer more redemption opportunities at luxury hotels.

I would switch a lot of my business to IHG if the Six Senses properties were part of the OneRewards program. There are other flaws in the program, like having limited elite perks when you redeem points.

I don't know if the integration of Six Senses into its loyalty program is intentional or not. It isDisappointing.

Bottom line

The Six Senses Crans-Montana is scheduled to open in February of 2023. A major hotel group is opening a ski resort. As of now, you can not redeem points at this Six Senses property.

It would be great if IHG One rewards capitalized on its luxury portfolio.

What do you think of the movie?
