Federal prosecutors are probing Rep-elect George Santos' finances after he admitted to lying about some of his work and education history: reports

GeorgeSantos has admitted to lying about his resume in the past. His money is attracting federal scrutiny.

A source told CNN and CBS that the US Attorney's office is looking into his finances.

The source of his wealth is the focus of the probe at the moment.

When he ran for congress in 2020, he listed a salary of $55,000 and no assets. The most recent financial disclosure shows a salary of $750,000 and various assets and dividends of at least $2 million. He founded the company in the year 2021.

A New York Times investigation that was released on January 19 revealed thatSantos lied about his education and work history on his resume.

He claimed to have worked at Citigroup. He admitted on Monday that parts of his work history were not real.
