Russell Wilson pointed to his own play in this disappointing season as a regret in the wake of Nathaniel Hackett's firing as the team's head coach

Wilson said he wished he could have played better for him. I would have liked to have played at the standard that I have always played at.

The Broncos had the lowest- scoring offense in the league with an average of 15 points per game. It was the shortest time as a head coach.

Wilson, in his first season with the team since the blockbuster trade to acquire him in March, has 12 touchdown passes in 13 starts, meaning he will finish far below his previous single-season low of 20.

In those 13 games, Wilson has been sacked 49 times, leading the league. His 51 sacks in the last year are a career high.

Wilson will start the Broncos' final two games of the season, including against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Rosburg said that they would play every player that was available and healthy enough to play. Russell Wilson will be our starter.

Wilson had his worst performance of the season in the Christmas Day loss to the Los Angeles Rams, throwing for 215 yards and three turnovers. In the first three pass attempts of the game, he threw two of them.

Wilson's play has come under scrutiny since the firing of Hackett. George Paton and Greg Penner said Tuesday that Wilson can fix what needs to be fixed. Wilson's struggles weren't the only reason he was fired.

"Russ said he didn't play up to his standard and he needs to be better,'' Paton said. We did not make a coaching move based on Russ. We're getting a new coach because that wasn't what it was all about. It's not about whether Russ is fixable or not, it's about the whole organization.

Penner said the decision to have Russell here is a long term one.

Wilson said the same thing Wednesday.

Wilson said he knows what he can do and what he can't. I haven't been able to play my best so far this year, that's for sure, at the end of the day.

Is that correct? It was a tough year in many ways. It's been the first time in Wilson's career that he hasn't scored a touchdown in a game. My goal is still the same, but my expectations are higher.

Wilson said that the Broncos' job is attractive to prospective coaches because of his struggles and the offense's struggles.

The Broncos traded five draft picks, including a first-round selection that is projected to be in the top three picks of next year's draft, as well as three players to the Seattle Seahawks. Wilson signed a five-year contract with the Broncos.
