If the app warned you of a crash, what would you do? According to Israeli tech news site Geektime, a new version of the app can alert users if a road has a high crash rate.

The roads that are deemed to be high risk are colored red on the map. It may not be possible for it to do this for roads that the user frequently travels on. The feature only pushes one notification about the dangerous roads around the driver, which may be an effort to keep the driver from becoming anxious.

If you are in the country, you will get a pop-up that says: "using reports from drivers and your route, you may see alert for 'History of crashes' on some roads." The feature is in the early stages of being released to the public. If you don't want the feature to be on, you can turn it off under the app's settings section.

It is the first new feature to come out of the company since it was rolled into the group that oversees the maps. The teams will benefit from further increased technical collaboration as a result of the merger between the two companies, according to the head of PR. At the same time as Google looks to cut costs, the change included the exit of the CEO of Waze. More collaborative user data could become new features in the future now that Waze is sharing more with Maps.
