The husband of the judge in the FTX case works for a firm that advised the company.

The US District Court for the Southern District of New York has a judge who is stepping down. She said that her husband is a partner at New York City-based law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell, which last year advised FTX and represented parties that may be adverse to FTX and Bankman- Fried.

The matters were confidential and the court didn't know the substance of them, so my husband has had no involvement in them.

"To avoid any possible conflict, or the appearance of one, the Court hereby withdraws itself from this action," he stated.

Sam Bankman- Fried and FTX were indicted by the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York. The former mogul was accused of wire fraud and money-laundering.

On December 12th, Bankman-Fried was arrested in the Bahamas at the request of the US government, and he was indicted the following day. He was freed on $250 million bail after being extradited to the US.

Gary Wang was added as a defendants on December 19th. Ellison and Wang were sentenced to prison.

The case was transferred to a senior judge on Tuesday. Kaplan presided over the writer's lawsuit against Donald Trump, who denied her rape allegation.
