After replacing Taylor Heinicke in the fourth quarter of Saturday's loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Washington Commanders will have a new starting quarterback.

In Week 17 of the season, Ron Rivera said that he would be the No.1 quarterback.

There were rumors going into the game that Rivera was going to change quarterbacks.

Rivera told reporters that sticking with Taylor was the most important thing. It's something that I have to think about at some point. We'll stick where we are if we can do the things we've done.

Heinicke took over as Washington's starter in Week 7 after Wentz broke his finger. He led the team to a good start.

Rivera stayed with Heinicke despite the fact that the team was playing well.

The Commanders haven't won in their last three games. They had a 20-20 tie against the New York Giants. In the last five games, the offense has not scored more than 23 points.
