There was a time when Puerto Vallarta was a sleepy place. One of the hottest tickets in town is the escape on the Pacific coast of Mexico, which used to be an under-the- radar escape. The streets of the tree lined neighborhoods are paved with cobblestones. The city's food scene is being written about on websites like Eater. There are a lot of people on the beaches. There is expansion at the airport. Some of the world's biggest names in luxury are expected to visit the quiet stretches of coastline to the north and south. Puerto Vallarta is the next big thing.
The numbers can be used to show this. There were over 350,000 international arrivals in November. In the month of November, it increased by 20.9 percent and in the month of November, it increased by 19.4 percent. The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board expects 6 million arrivals by the end of the year. Luis Villasenor is the managing director of the tourism board.
The growth trajectory in the destination is driven by the buzz-worthy projects that are happening all around it. The Costalegre to the south and Puerto Vallarta to the north are both still bearing the fruits of significant investments made over the past 10 years.
The Four Seasons was welcomed by Costalegre. There are reservations for the resort. The new level of luxury that has been reset in Mexico can be found at the Four Seasons Tamarindo. The 157 rooms and public spaces were designed to blend into the landscape with an emphasis on protecting and giving back to the land.
Felix Murillo is the general manager of Four Seasons Tamarindo. We will not leave anything behind if things come into the resort. We compost anything we consume. The pigs are eating the compost. Everything returns to the land again. Our own food is produced by us. We would like to add to the area. We are one of the layers.
Xala is a luxury lifestyle community that sets out with the intention to integrate into the community, giving back and providing for residents who live here, while reducing its footprint on the landscape.
With its community service, the project has brought clean, potable water to towns and villages, provided mental health services for kids and teenagers, and launched a skate park for students. The anchor hotel of Xala will be a brand known around the world and one not yet in Mexico and will debut in the fall of 2024. Following the opening of the airport near Xala, guests and residents will be able to hop a shuttle flight from Puerto Vallarta, cutting the travel time from nearly three hours to just 20 minutes.
Costalegre is a very unique area in Mexico because we control over 40 kilometers of coastline. All of the developers in the region want Costalegre to never get overdeveloped and want to move into being more than just sustainable. The founding partner of Xala said they are trying to become a regeneration.
Since becoming a regular at Puerto Vallarta, it has changed dramatically. A new terminal is being built at the airport. The project will be the first zero-energy airport terminal in Latin America and will feature solar panels and a water management system. The new terminal will increase passenger capacity by 50 percent.
Puerto Vallarta is more than just a beach destination, it has become a full-fledged city with designer shopping malls, gourmet grocery stores, luxury condominiums, high-rises and a gourmet scene that can serve up everything from streetside birria taco to creative birria-broth
The cobblestone streets are beneath the wheels of traffic. The roads that go up into the hills are lined with tile-topped villas and bougainvillea blossoms. The families jump into the bay at 7 a.m. for a quick dip before heading off to work. The humid air is pierced by the whistle of the churro cart. The shadows of that tiny fishing village are what make this place one of my favorites on the planet.
