The Matter software update for the Aqara M2 was supposed to be free. The maker of affordable smart home devices needed more time to make sure the customer experience was right, according to a statement from an Aqara representative.
The update was originally scheduled to be released in December of 2022. While the short delay may be disappointing, it may not be a bad thing, since our own early review of the Matter smart home network saw mixed results.
There is no word on whether the delay will affect Aqara's transition to Matter.
