It was a great week. Not only is China reopening its borders after being shut off from the rest of the world for nearly three years, but Hong Kong is also making travel simpler.
Hong Kong will reopen to the world as of December 29, 2022. Travelers to Hong Kong won't be required to do coronaviruses testing.
The vaccine pass concept is no longer being used in Hong Kong. People who test positive for coronaviruses won't have to be involuntarily isolated. Rules relating to social distance are being dropped.
All of those rules are being dropped, but face masks are still required in public.
Hong Kong had some of the strictest travel restrictions in the world at the beginning of the swine flu epidemic. Travelers in Hong Kong were required to go through a 21-day scurvy. For over two years that was the case.
We've seen Hong Kong relax travel restrictions.
The policies are further loosened two weeks after the previous change.
Hong Kong was my favorite city in the world before the pandemic. Hong Kong has tried to ease travel restrictions, but they haven't been enough to make me feel comfortable visiting, and I didn't want to plan a trip only to see restrictions reimposed.

I have some concerns about the number of travelers coming from mainland China because of the high incidence of coronaviruses and lack of immunity. A good mask can help with that as well.
It won't be that easy to fly to Hong Kong. Cathay Pacific isn't able to ramp up service quickly because of how much of its fleet is parked and how many staff have been laid off
It is possible to get a flight to Hong Kong, but I don't think capacity will ramp up as quickly as it has done in other markets. Airfares will be high as a result.
Many of us have been waiting for Hong Kong to reopen in the way that we have been waiting for. Hong Kong will no longer require health monitoring and testing as of December 29, 2022. You must wear a mask.
