Boxer Gervonta Davis was arrested in Florida and jailed on a domestic violence charge.
Davis will appear at a court hearing on Wednesday at 8 a.m. at the Main Jail Bureau in Fort Lauderdale. According to the jail, it starts at 8 pm. There is no bond in place.
The allegations against Davis were not made public early Wednesday morning.
On January 7th, in Washington, D.C., Davis is scheduled to fight for the title. The bout is part of a plan to have a fight in Las Vegas. Davis held the 130-pound title.
According to court records, Davis is due in Baltimore Circuit Court on February 16 for his alleged involvement in an unrelated hit-and-run incident. A pregnant woman is one of the people who fled the scene of the accident. He is accused of failing to immediately return and remain at the scene of an accident involving bodily injury. He is being sued.
According to Coral Gables police, Davis was charged with two counts of battery for an incident in February 2020 in which he was seen battering his former girlfriend. The case was dismissed on December 13th.
