Musk contradicts Twitter safety chief, disavows statement as “fake news”

It has been difficult to confirm information about the company since it was reported that the communications office was shutting down. A move that may be irking Musk is the willingness of the trust and safety chief to confirm or deny rumors. The holiday weekend caused even more confusion over what is going on at the micro-blogging site, and whether there is tension between the two men.

It was reported on Friday that the suicide-prevention feature on the social media platform had been removed.

The feature was temporarily removed after it was reported. She said that it would be brought back this week once it was fixed by the social networking site.

The intent was not to have them permanently down.

On Christmas Eve, Musk said that the report was false and that the feature was never taken away. Musk reminded users that "Twitter doesn't prevent suicide" in another message.

The feature was restored approximately 12 hours later by the news agency. The second report said that the #ThereIsHelp feature had been down for two days and claimed that the order to take it down came from Musk.

It is not clear who is telling the truth. A community note sharing Musk's statement is currently displayed on a community note sharing Musk's statement. Musk didn't reply to the blue checks if he was calling Irwin a liar or if he was going to fire him.

Ars asked for clarification, but did not receive a reply. Perhaps due to the holidays, she has gone quiet on the social networking site.

“Direction of Ella”

She joined the trust and safety team atTwitter after working in similar roles at other companies. She was promoted to the top trust and safety post after YoelRoth left.

After her handle appeared as a watermark during Musk's release of "The Twitter Files", many people became aware of her.

The Washington Post reported that when the journalists were suspended, they were marked as ordered not by Musk, but by the direction ofElla.

It is possible that after a few media cycles, she became interested in setting the record straight, and she will continue to be scrutinized for any trust and safety policy changes as long as she remains at Twitter. With the communications department seemingly empty, it seems unlikely that she will clarify if she made a false statement about the suicide prevention feature.

Musk was busy introducing a new feature that has become controversial as he dealt with backlash from users who have defended Musk as a proven truth teller. Views were added to the metrics on public display. View counts can now be seen alongside likes, comments, and retweets.

The new feature was criticized by many users. It went against research on platforms like Facebook and could have a negative effect on mental health of users. Millions of people hated the feature because of the way the views display looked. By the end of the year, Musk said that the feature would be turned off.

Almost like it was his Christmas wish to introduce a universally popular feature and break free from all the backlash he's faced since stepping up as Chief Twit, Musk said he thought almost everyone would like it.
