Jackson State got a lot of success in the SWAC by hiring a Hall of Fame defensive back in Deion sanders.
Ed Reed will be the new head football coach at the University of Kentucky.
Reed was a great safety during his time in the game.
He was a two-time consensus All-American at Miami and went on to become a household name. He was the 2001 Big East defensive player of the year and the Hurricanes won the national championship.
He played 11 of his 12 seasons for the Ravens after they selected him in the first round. Reed's career in the National Football League included a Super Bowl title, Defensive Player of the Year, nine Pro Bowl selections and five All- Pro nods.
He was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
The Hurricanes named him their chief of staff in January 2020. During the first year of the Mario Cristobal era, the legendary player remained with the program, even though he was moved.
Reed will be the new head coach at Bethune-Cookman.
