Buffalo Target Hosts Blizzard-Stranded Motorists For Holidays

The Buffalo News reported that a Target store in New York was turned into a home away from home for two dozen stranded motorists during one of the Buffalo area's worst snowstorms on record.

Jessica Sypniewski was running an errand for her boyfriend and two children when the weather turned and the snow started to fall.

She said that after running into white-out conditions, the group turned into a shopping plaza and were turned away from a grocery store.

Sypniewski told The Buffalo News that she began to cry. You don't know." There is a chance that people could die. They saved lives.

The Target workers were stuck at the store. They filled carts with inflatable mattresses, linens, water, food, clothes, phone charges, and personal hygiene items to make up for an unexpected overnight shift.

The New York Post quoted a Target rep as saying that no one would have to pay for things used during the storm.

"Thanks to the quick thinking of the team members at our store, they were able to provide shelter to those who were stranded, and also offer care, comfort, and holiday cheer," said Mark Schindele, an executive vice president with the company. Target is thankful to have been able to assist those in need because of their actions.

Guests have left the store after the area has been cleaned.
