The Korea Economic Daily reported that the two companies are working on smart home appliances that can detect when a user is sleeping and adjust accordingly.
The four sleep stages can be tracked using devices that have microphones such as smart TVs and phones. The tech will be integrated into washing machines, fridges, air conditioners, and TVs.
These appliances can turn on or off depending on whether or not a user is awake. The room temperature could be adjusted based on which stage the user is in. If the Aero Furniture senses that the user is not awake, it can switch to sleep mode.
At the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next month, Asleep will be showing its SleeptrackAPI, the tech that measures sleep and relays the information to other companies. Amorepacific is one of the companies that the startup will be working with.
There will be a new lineup of minimalist appliances, such as a fridge, washing machine, dryer, oven, and dishwasher, that won't have buttons or decorative elements. Users will be able to add new features to their devices through the upgrade center in the ThinQ app.
"Upgradingability challenges the idea that expensive appliances are designed with planned obsolescence in mind," said Lyu Jae-cheol, president ofLG Electronics home appliances. "We want customers to experience the feeling of getting a new washer or refrigerator, not just the first time they bring the item home."
