New York Rep.-elect GeorgeSantos told The New York Post on Monday that he lied about his education and work experience in order to get votes.
The Republican congressman-elect told The Post that his fabrications wouldn't stop him from assuming office.
"I'm not a criminal," he said.
He admitted to The Post that he lied about his educational background and work history. He denied that he ever worked for either of the major Wall Street banks.
He told The Post that Link Bridge did business with both firms.
He didn't graduate from college. He had claimed to be a graduate of the college. According to the New York Times, the college had no record of him as a student.
The Forward reported that he lied about his family's background on his campaign website, saying that his mother and grandparents escaped the Nazis during the Holocaust.
He told The Post that his grandmother told him stories about being Jewish before he converted to Catholicism. I'm a catholic. I said I was "Jew-ish" because I knew I had a Jewish family.
